ARDMS Certified Echocardiography Technologist (Echo Tech)
Position Overview:
As an ARDMS Certified Echocardiography Technologist, you will perform non-invasive diagnostic echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds) to evaluate the heart's structure and function. You will work closely with cardiologists and healthcare providers to assist in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to the care and treatment of patients in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Echocardiograms: Conduct a wide range of echocardiographic procedures, including 2D, Doppler, color flow imaging, and stress echocardiograms.
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patients are comfortable and informed throughout the procedure, answering questions and explaining the process to ease any concerns.
- Image Quality: Capture clear, diagnostic-quality images of the heart’s chambers, valves, and blood flow to assist in clinical diagnosis.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to interpret test results and aid in diagnosing heart conditions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all patient data and echocardiogram results in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure ultrasound equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for optimal imaging quality and patient safety.
- Education & Support: Provide patient education regarding echocardiographic procedures and assist with preparing patients for exams.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) in Echocardiography (RDCS).
- State of Ohio Licensure: Current license as a Sonographer in the state of Ohio (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Echocardiography Technologist, preferably in a hospital or cardiology setting.
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or related field.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiography techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional Certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Stress Echocardiography.
- Experience with advanced imaging techniques, such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and echocardiography software.
